SFTIO Announcement

It always makes me feel good about what I do when I am invited back on the team for another term; it means I must be doing something right and people like seeing my work! I have enjoyed every moment designing for SFTIO. The ladies are absolutely fabulous to work for and the community is fun, no drama, and respectful! We can voice our opinions without getting talked down to and we respect each other's ideas and thoughts... I just love the community.

Unlike most kit clubs, SFTIO is different in the sense that every month, members are challenged to scrap about their inner thoughts and feelings and sometimes it's soooo hard but in the end, I do it because I want Edward to be able to look back later and know his mother "inside and out". SFTIO allows me to explore some places I'd rather not, but those places help me grow into the person I am today. Those places help me learn and change my habits... It is scary getting your thoughts on paper, but after a few months, it gets easier

Thanks Rachel for letting me stay! I am so excited and I feel very honored. And if you haven't seen the announcement, see it by clicking here!

May Arts Design Team Call

Hello everyone. Did you see that May Arts is having a Design Team call? I love ribbon and so when I saw this call, I got really excited. I took a look through their store and oh my goodness.... they have such a variety of beautiful trims that I would be in heaven!! Here are my projects that I am submitting to the call.

Would you like to know how to make a perfect bow of your own? Well, I'm going to give you tips on how to make one of your own!

First staple the ribbon below your photo at each end leaving plenty of ribbon hanging to create the bow. Then pull the right side of the ribbon over to the left side of the layout and create a loop. Staple the loop to hold the ribbon in place. Then tie your bow! The staples help hold the shape of the ribbon so that you can tug the bow easily!

The Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's blog! Be sure head on over to check it out! Leave a comment there for a chance to win an extra prize package just for visiting the blog and telling us that you stopped by! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).
As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project. If you like what you see you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

Supplies: Cardstock: Creative Memories, Patterned Paper: Lily Bee Design, Transparency: Hambly, Sticker alphas: Bella Blvd., Tag: Teresa Collins, Pearls: Zva Creative, Flower: Zva Creative, Pen/Adhesives: Creative Memories.
If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.
The Blog Hop starts today, May 28th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, May 29th.
The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 30th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Zva's blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday... plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.
All you need to do is leave a comment on this blog post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.
We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize! To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products. If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.
*Hop over to Zva's blog and leave a comment there to tell us that you made it there!
The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's blog. Your next stop is Andrea Ewen. Enjoy!
Thank you for joining us!

P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on June 25th for our next Zva blog hop!

50 Shades of Grey

Wholey cow these books are so good! My best friend asked me a month ago if I read them and I said no... but I've heard of them. She told me that I wouldn't like the first one and I would most likely stop reading it. So she made me promise her to have an open mind and read them. So I ordered all three of them... and I started to read them, and I got sucked in! Wow, these books are a bit intense but truly mind blowing... you just have to read them. I feel like for the past few weeks, these books took over my life... lol. I just didn't want to put these books down. I am a bit sad this series is over... for now. I think.

Ink, stamps, oh my!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today, I'm just sharing a fun layout with you using the May SFTIO kit. I loved this kit because of the beautiful, happy colors!

Doesn't this layout look fun, but girly at the same time. I normally don't do "girly" but decided to change my scrapping up a bit. I try to do this every now and then so my layouts don't look the same.

I used lots of inks and some stamps on this layout. For the drip effect, I simply sprayed some puddles of ink on my cardstock, then propped the layout upright so the ink would drip.

  • Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Creative Memories
  • Patterned Paper: Prima
  • Jewels: Zva Creative
  • Acrylic Stamps: Glitz Design
  • Spray Ink: Ranger, Smooch
  • Canvas: Prima

Busy, but fun day!

Hello everybody! Today was a busy day! This morning momom came to plant some more flowers for me and then I had a 2:00 dentist appointment to have two fillings redone. Stopped by CVS for a few things and then when I got home, hubby asked if I wanted to take Edward and Daisy down to the beach for a few hours. So Pete walked Daisy and I pushed Edward in his stroller down to the beach. We had such a great time! Here are a few of my favorite photos from today.

I heart you!

Hello everyone! Today I would like to share a fun technique with you. A few weeks ago, while I was creating this beautiful layout using the May kit by SFTIO, I ran out of embellishments. I needed a heart but didn't have any heart stamps or chipboards and I didn't want a punched heart. I wanted something different.

So while I was trying to decide on what to do, I remembered something I saw on pinterest. It was a picture of two finger prints in the form of a heart! So I thought to myself, well, I am going to end up with an inky finger or two for a few days, but why not...

Initially, I was going to create a pink heart for my layout but it really stood out and took the focus away from the photos so I decided to use silver ink instead.

Instructions:

First, Spray some ink on a piece of plastic. I say plastic, because if you use paper, the paper will absorb the ink. You did to be able to soak your finger in the ink to create your very own special heart.

Then, dip your finger in the ink and press your finger down on a piece of patterned paper. Repeat process and tilt finger to the side to create a heart shape.

Use a black pen to outline the heart to help make it stand out.

And here is a close up of the heart on my layout. I used a foam square to make it pop off the page.

And here is the outcome of my layout. I love this! I always feel so good after trying out a new technique.
