Just add pink

Happy Friday friends! What are your plans for this weekend? Anything fun? I think we are just going to hang out at the beach with some friends. In the mean time, here is my last layout that I created using the May Clique Kit. Since I wanted the main focus to be on the photos, I decided to keep it clean and simple. I think the circle embellishments really pulls the eyes towards the photo. What do you think? My darling has a love for Legos like no other. I got him started when he was about 3 years old. I'd do the building back then and show him how to read the instructions. 2 years later, he is building Lego sets that are for 8-14 year old boys! He is amazing. These pictures are from last year when he was just getting the hang of it and practicing on the small sets.

Here's a close up. I used some string for my wood veneer tag to complete the look. And I really like the little pink banner with the green. It doesn't make it look too girlie. At least, I don't think it does.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Mommy Lhey Design Team Call Submission 2015

Hey everybody! Mommy Lhey is having a design team call. Click here for the call. I was just wondering last week if she would end up having a call to gain more exposure to her fabulous stamps and today was the day I have been waiting for! I have been on a stamping kick lately and LOVE it. They really do make a layout pop. And the best thing about stamps, you never run out of them. They are there for when you need them; such loyal companions. :) You can get some of Mommy Lhey's stamps in the Clique Kit Store. Grab them while you can and save 10% by using coupon code "NICOLE10" *excludes kits.

Here's a layout that I created for the call, but I am going to give it to my sister. She took this darling picture when she and Matt were in Disney! Isn't she a cutie? I decided to create a watercolor background using the colors from my sister's hat and background. I added a little yellow to brighten up the layout a bit with a touch of fuchsia. Totally, chicky, just like my sister. Once the watercolor paint was dry, I stamped several stars within my watercolor image and a few other images. I love the little guy with the eyes. Fun! Makes me smile.

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts, Patterned paper: Webster's Pages, Washi tape: Sticker: Enamel dots: Clip: Freckled Fawn, Stamps: Mommy Lhey, "You make me so happy" stamp: Chickaniddy Crafts, Other: Watercolor Paints, Black ink.

Thanks for stopping by today. I am crossing my fingers that I make the team because I really think this would be a fun team to be apart of. Good luck to those who apply.

Experimenting with watercolors

Hi everybody. About a month ago, I bought an Aqua Painter from Erica's Stampin'Up party thinking it would really be cool not to have to keep dipping my paint brush in water every few seconds. Can I just tell you, this tool is awesome! Simply fill the Aqua Painter up with water, soak the tip on desired watercolor and start painting. These brushes give your layouts a much more defined paint brush stroke than a normal paint brush. I need to order another one to have on hand. Don't let the price of these babies deter you away from buying them... I promise you'll love them.

I literally just dipped my brush on the desired color, made a few strokes back and forth, squeezed the painter a little to get the water flowing down the brush, selected another color and created a few more strokes until I was satisfied with my background. Super easy. I didn't even need to watch a video to see how these can be used! Also , before switching colors, simply use a paper towel to remove the previous color from the brush before dipping it into another color. What do you think? I love trying new things. I must admit, I cannot believe that this was created with my own hands.

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts, Patterned paper: Ella Viv, Epoxy heart sticker: Star clip: Washi tape: Freckled Fawn, Digital camera stamp: "Treasure" stamp: Ali Edwards, Sticker words: Ali Edwards, Heart, Star and book stamp: Mommy Lhey, Ink: Momento, Clearsnap, Aqua Painter: Stampin'Up, Watercolor paint: Royal & Langnickel, Pen: Marvy.

And here is my very first Youtube video so that you can see how I created the background. It really is simple. My video isn't perfect... but I did try.

Cut that paper up

Hi everyone. Happy Monday! I have another fun layout to share with you using the May "Carnival" kit by Clique Kits. I really had fun with this one. I loved the little circle patterns this layout, but wanted a white background so I hand cut them to make them work for me. I filled the center of the circles with jewels, brads, chipboard, flair, stickers and punches! Once I was satisfied with the layout, I sprinkled some mist onto the layout and added a few sentimental stamps within the circles. The "keeper" and "good times" labels were actually part of the washi tape. I adhered them on patterned paper and trimmed them out.

Seriously, when it comes to my family and getting family photos done, it's almost impossible to get everyone to cooperate. It happens EVERY SINGLE TIME. Not kidding. Leave it to Aunt Katie to ruin a perfect shot. But I still love it anyway.

Supplies: Cardstock: Patterned paper: Stickers: Washi tape: Chipboard: American Crafts, Flair: Clique Kits, Stamps: Ali Edwards Story Stamp Kit (Click), Star punch: Epiphany Crafts, Ink: Clearsnap, Brad: Chickaniddy Crafts, Mist: Heidi Swapp.

A little close up of how I filled in the circles. Fun, fun, fun!

Scrapping those little things...

Just in case you were wondering, I am still going strong... I haven't given up on project life just yet. In fact, I just created a new double spread page layout using Ali Edwards's "Little things" story kit. As soon as I saw the theme for this month, I knew what I wanted to scrap. I have been taking pictures of Edwards "little things" over the past few years such as drawings, legos and things that he likes to make. These are treausred memories that I hope to share with him when he gets older!

It took me over an hour to complete these two pages... They may look simple, but they really aren't. I have such a hard time with project life pages. I am not sure why!

And I just started this cute little instagram mini album. For the past few years, I've been scanning Edward's artwork when he brings them home from school. I think I am going to  them all and put them in this little book!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hooray!

Hi everyone. I have a fun layout to share with you. I bought this Studio Tekturek paper from the Clique Kits store a few months ago because I LOVE blue and green, but didn't know when I would use it... I just knew that I needed it. :) What can I say, I love patterned paper. A lot. The papers are on sale for $4 bux for like 10 sheets of paper in the store. Get yours while you can and save 10% just by using NICOLE10 in the coupon section before checking out.

I love how the Freckled Fawn embellishments look on here as well as the smiley face stamps by Mommy Lhey! Fun stamps! I really like them. Normally, I don't have much time to scrap with the little man around, but today I had off and he went to school... and it was heaven! And no, I don't feel bad about that. :@)

Supplies: Patterned paper: Studio Tekturek, Flair: Clique Kits, Puffy stickers: Studio Calico, Vellum stickers: Die cut: Freckled Fawn, Smiley face stamp and journaling lines: Mommy Lhey, Sentiment stamps: Chickaniddy Crafts.

I can't believe that on May 8th, my husband and I celebrated our 11th anniversary. We've been married for 11 years, together for 16 years. Dang, that's a long time! Not quite half my life-time, but not far off. This photo was of the two of us... we were celebrating with our family, the night before our wedding on May 7, 2004.

Supplies: Cardstock: Patterned paper: Washi tape: Stamps: Epoxy stickers: Mini rotary stamp: American Crafts, Kraft doilies: Maya Road, Mist: Heidi Swapp, Ink: Clearsnap.

A few cards...

I know... don't faint. I made a few cards. I couldn't help it. After seeing Tyra Babington's cards on the Clique Kits blog a few weeks ago, I was so inspired to create a few cards using my scraps! I make cards only when I need them to avoid paying $5 for a card I can make. It's not that I don't enjoy making cards, I just don't think I'm very good at them. For these cards, I decided to keep them small and simple. They are sized at 4"x3". I work better with smaller spaces. :@)

Supplies: Cardstock: Patterned paper: Stickers: Washi tape: Mini phrase stamp: Hello Stamp: Jewels: American Crafts, Enamel dots: Ruby Rocket, Heart stamp: Ali Edward's Story Kit, Star Punch: Epiphany Crafts.

I really love the "Carnival" kit by Clique Kits. The colors are so gorgeous and HAPPY! I enjoyed this kit so much that I created 6 layouts and 4 cards with it! I literally killed my kit this month. I only have a few pieces left, not enough for another layout, but perhaps I can make another card.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Cole Bros. Circus

We took Edward to the circus tonight. We only stayed for the first half which lasted until 9:00! Edward had a blast. He got some cotton candy, a sword and a blow up shark. He was in heaven. We didn't get to go last year so we made up for it this year.

I wasn't sure if Parker was gonna make it, but we ran into him and his parents. Edward was beyond excited.

Edward wanted to ride on the elephant and I've never done it, so I figured now was the time before we don't see them in circuses anymore. I know that most places are sending them to a rescue place in Florida so they aren't mistreated.

What a nice shot!

Parker wanted some cotton candy so Edward and him shared. Best buds forever.

This man gets us every time. We simply cannot get away with not buying Edward one. LOL. The first thing he told me yesterday was that he needed a new sword when we go to the circus. He initially got a skull sword, but then he wanted the one Parker had... Twenty minutes later, Pete asked the guy if we could exchange it... he was nice enough to let us. Edward was happy. Mommy isn't... the new sword makes noises.

Can I just say, I am so thrilled that I got this shot. It's freaking awesome!

Edward's favorite part of the circus was when the "GURL" placed the tigers in their individual spots. He was impressed.

I thought these guys were neat. They sat in a chair, jump roped on the line and the man walked across the line blind folded. He fell the first time and there wasn't a net, but he caught himself. Scary stuff!

Fun!

This was insane... seriously. The man lit the metal rod on fire and hopped on over. You could see the sweat dripping down his face. He is still on the rope!

There were two dudes on their bikes with a girl in the cage standing in the middle... I would have been so nervous... Then the girl came out and another biker got in. There were three bikers riding in this small cage. So cool. I enjoyed it

Next year, I am hoping we can take Edward to the big circus in Baltimore!
