Cake Traditions

Hello friends! Nicole here with a fun, mixed media layout I created for The Awesome Ladies Project. I must admit, I was unsure of what to create for the Tradition theme this month. Normally, I am not big on traditions. Any traditions that I've tried to follow in the past, I've failed them miserably. One tradition that comes to mind is the Elf on the Shelf. When mommies all around the world were trying to come up with fun, mischievous things for their elves, I was alongside them, but after two years of doing this, I got bored.

Last year, my son asked why Yummy never left the same spot... LOL. So, we will not be doing anything with Yummy, our elf this year. I am just going to forget about it; I refuse to stress myself out over that little doll. Having said this, I was still unsure of what to scrapbook for this month's post and then it hit me. Every year, I pay my friend to make Edward a really awesome cake! Usually, it includes Edward's favorite character or toy for that year. And so far, he has loved every cake for the past 6 years.

For this layout, I splashed some orange, blue and green mists on to the white cardstock. Then I took a few pieces of paper towels and smeared the mist with the paper towels to create a fun background. I painted some blue paint on to a lid and used it as a stamp for the background. I figured it would make a nice frame for the photos!

I used a fine tip pen to hand journal my story at the bottom. To help make this layout more fun, I added some floral rub-ons and stickers onto the collage of photos.

What are some of your traditions? If you're having a hard time thinking of a tradition, dig deep... you might find one or two!

Thanks for visiting today!

One of my goals is to make more 8 1/2 X 11 pages. You are my inspiration! Happy 2018!
