Happy Valentines Day ladies!! I decided to create a layout using hearts that I traced on to patterned paper by hand then I cut them out. I used the heart cut-out as a template for all of the hearts including the photo. I was in the mood to do something different... I like the design! I used a few papers and stickers from the Tales & Dreams collection. I just love the colors and patterns in this collection. And it totally works for a Valentines theme layout.

Here you can see the original heart and the hearts that I cut.

Initially, I had planned on creating a few more hearts and scattering them down the center of the page, but then I decided to just create a cluster of hearts. Keep it clean and simple. I used the die cut words and mini word stickers to pull the heart photo in with the hearts which helps pull the viewer's eyes directly to the photo.

Here is a closer look at the die cut and stickers.

I used a pen and ruler to hand-journal my story. Then I added two heart stickers above the journaling to fill in the white space.

And just for fun, I doodled around the top heart to make it slightly different from all the others.

What do you think? Think you're ready to try cutting shapes for your next project free-handed? This is a great technique for those of you who do not own a die cutting machine. :)
