Hi all! Nicole here with a fun mixed media layout! This month, I wanted to mix things up a bit and get a little messy so you'll be seeing a few mixed media projects from me throughout the month. I am really pleased with how they turned out and I hope I inspire you to try working with mixed media products!

Last month, my husband and son went to Sea World for a week. Edward has been asking for almost two years to go... he wanted to go sooooo bad.  And he had a blast...this was his first vacation and they did so much together. It was a much needed bonding time for the two of them. My husband works retail hours, which means he works late and doesn't get enough time with the little man. I think he made up for it. And Edward's favorite part of the trip was shopping. :) HAHA, he managed to talk Pete into buying him a stuffed animal at each shop. Glad it wasn't my wallet...

For the background, I used a few different colors and blended it together using a brayer. Then I used some gesso to tone down the paint so it wasn't too bright. I wanted the patterned papers and embellishments to blend in nicely with the background. I splattered some dark blue (almost black) mist in the background to break up the brights a bit.

I used the vellum sticker alphas for my title then used a black pen and ruler to add a little doodling below the title. I used the same technique to create a 1/2" border around the layout.

I embellished the layout with some tags, die cuts, journal cards and other items from my stash.
