"Hey mommy, do you want to take a picture of us?"

Hello! The other night while Edward and I were curled up on the couch watching his TV show, he out of the blue says, "hey mommy, do you want to take a picture of us?" And I said, "do you want me to?" He NEVER wants me to take his photo... so this was the first time he has asked me to take one and I quickly grabbed my phone camera... I didn't have time to grab my Nikon. So naturally, I scrapped these adorable photos right away!

Fake stitching

Every now and then, I will finish a layout that I’m not exactly happy with. Sometimes I let it sit overnight and will go back to it the next day to decide if I like it or not. Most of the time, I change my mind and am pleased, but with this layout, I felt like it was a little too flat. It’s missing something… I don’t like to over embellish my layouts because it can get make my layout too bulky or more expensive!

So after thinking about it over night, I decided to create a fun stitched border at the top and bottom of the layout. Scrappers can buy paper garlands to look like this, but it will cost ya and as long as you own some punches and a sewing machine, you can make one yourself without spending any money.

As I was prepping my sewing machine, I couldn’t get the bob in so I had to come up with something else… I already had the punched shapes adhered to the layout. I didn’t want to just leave them the way they were and call it a night. So rather than use a sewing machine to create a run wavy stitch across the punched shapes, I used a marker and ruler to “fake” stitch. As you can see, a marker and ruler can create a similar look minus the hassle of fighting with a sewing machine! Now, the next time I visit my grandmother, I’m gonna have to get her to re-bob it for me. I know, some sewer I am right?

And here is my layout. I'm happy with how this one turned out even if this wasn't completely what I had in mind.

Picnic at the beach

Today, Edward asked if we could have a picnic at the beach. So we did! We packed up some chicken to grill and bought some salads and headed to the beach for a few hours of fun. Earlier, it was so hot, but the breeze on the beach felt wonderful!

Edward just walked off by himself and sat down by the water taking it all in... Love how peaceful this photo looks.

He was so funny getting situated here... he had to have part of his body in the water in order to make his sand castle.

He was very meticulous. He hand picked his rocks and sticks to decorate his castle with. He's so clever!

This picture says it all...

Father/son pictures. Love these.

My little curious boy...

I do love this curious boy... lol. At times, I think he's a mini me, but he looks just like his daddy. I will say that he's got my personality. Sometimes he looks like me with his expressions. I love how curious he is to learn everything. And I love how he can take everything in and then come up with something creative to do with himself. Here's a layout I created of him sitting in a hole that he dug out all by himself using some utensils from the grill. He was so proud of himself. He just plopped his butt in the whole and started laughing hysterically.

Another inspiring ad...

Hi everyone. Today I have a fun layout to share with you. Since this month’s SFTIO emotion is “Curiosity” I wanted to scrap a layout of how I get satisfaction in the work I do for a living. I usually like to learn everything I can and I get bored easily... so throughout the years that I have been with the credit union, I have asked to be trained to do the things that a teller and the assistant manager does on a daily basis. That way, later down the road, if a job position comes up, I have the knowledge and skills to perform the job! How many times have you seen someone who's not qualified for the job apply for the job and complain that they didn't get the job... I KNOW! Very frustrating, but I'm here to tell you I'm not one of them people. When I started this layout, I had no idea what kind of design I wanted to follow so I went searching through a magazine ad until I found an adthat inspired me. I do this regularly when I'm experiencing scrappers block. So here's the ad I came across. What do you think? I love it!

Notice how I used the sketch? I decided to scrap in a somewhat of a square and I included my title right on the photo! At first I tried to peel the sticker off because I felt that it was too close to my face, but then I just left it. Even though I'm not 100% happy with the placement of the title, it's something different and I like the overall layout.

Fun time at the circus!

Yesterday, Pete and I celebrated our 9th anniversary with our little man! We had such a good day. The three of us had dinner and dessert at Chevys in Annapolis and then we went to the circus! Edward was so excited when Parker showed up too. His best friend in the whole world. ;)

My friend Kelly and Ryan brought Parker along. So fun!

LOL, this picture makes me laugh. Edward with his serious face.

There were 4 black and white tigers and they were beautiful! Edward liked them too.

And this was the cutest baby elephant I ever saw.

That first lady was hanging from her hair! Can you even imagine?

This was so scary to watch. That man almost fell to his death... there were no nets and he totally lost his balance. I think I almost had a heart attack and so did his buddy up there.

When we asked Edward what he liked the most about the Circus, he said he liked riding on the elephant. So cute.

The boys only made it half way through the circus. It was 9:00 when the circus was half way done and they were tired... so we promised Edward we'd buy him lightening sword before we left and that's what we did... he waited so patiently for it too.
