February Zva Creative Blog hop!

Hi everyone! Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to our February blog hop where we showcase a variety of jewels and pearls! We are very excited about this year’s team and are sure that you will be inspired by and love their work. Are you ready to hop along and get to know them better?

The hop begins at Zva Creative’s Facebook page! Be sure head on over to check it out! You will also find a complete list of all the participating blogs there (in case there is a glitch along the way).

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

I don't know about you, but I'm already thinking about summer... I'm tired of the frigid cold and the snow already. Come on summer. Until then, here's a layout of my son from last summer. I had a nice time sitting back watching him try to skip the stones across the Severn River. He loves being near the water and we are so fortunate to live just a few blocks from a local beach.

And here's another layout that I created. I am so lucky to work with GREAT people. And I mean that literally... There's only one problem with the photo, my girl Jen bailed out on us, but we still had a great time at the Red, Red, Wine Bar in Annapolis, Maryland. It was our first time there and it was awesome. I can't wait to go back. If you like wine, try the Pink Mascotto by Innocent Bystander. OMG, It is soooooo good. You'll thank me later.

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
The Blog Hop starts today, February 24th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, February 25th.
Hidden on FIVE of the designer’s blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, February 26th on Zva Creative’s Facebook page. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva’s blog on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!

We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize! To increase your chances of winning:

Fantastic day!

Seriously, Edward had the best birthday party ever and I didn't have to do much... lol. All year he has asked to have his party at Chuck-E-Cheeses so that's what we did. Isn't his cake awesome? My friend Kelly made it. Unbelievable!

And the  birthday boy... I think was a bit overwhelmed.... He is not used to this much attention, but he did so good.

I love this picture. Kelly had to work so originally, Parker wasn't going to make it to the party, but I couldn't not have Edward's best friend at the party so Kelly dropped Parker off at my house at 8am and I took him with us! I am an awesome mommy like that. Anything for my son.

The table. Yes, they got awesome goodie bags and a cup... cause I rock.

Coin, coins, coins and more coins.

Man, Edward made out! We ran out of time and couldn't open the gifts there and after two hours, the parents took their children and ran... you know how that place is. I can only handle so much myself. Edward got lots of Ninja Turtle stuff and legos!!! Best birthday party ever. I enjoyed finally meeting the parents of his little friends from class. Very nice people.

Love this shot of him admiring Mikey.

OMG, And he had a blast in the ticket booth. LOL. Aunt Jamie gave him pointers on how to get the most tickets. He walked in holding his sweater out and did not move. He even got the 1,000 ticket! Woot, woot. He seriously rocks.

Make a wish dear boy.

And here he is with all of his tickets.

And before Parker left, I had Edward open his gift since he was the only one left. Priceless photo. Edward has been wanting a Mikey mask like forever... And he got an awesome Lego book and some legos from his best friend Parker.

Some shots of the little kiddies.

On the way home, I asked Edward if he enjoyed his birthday party and his response was, "yep, I did." And when we got home he said, "mommy, I love you." And that my friends, is why I don't mind spending a few hundred dollars on his birthday party because it was totally worth it to see my son happy.

Happy birthday little man!

Today is a very special day! My handsome son turned 4! He is absolutely adorable, sweet, precious and everything a mom could ask for. I am truly lucky to have him... I feel so blessed and he is the joy of my life. I can't imagine what my life would be without him. It's unimaginable. I can't wait to see the new things that he'll learn and do this year. Edward, I love you baby and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Playing with color pencils

Since I have tons of cardstock, paints, markers and some gelatos, I decided to get creative and play around with mixed media. I keep thinking I need new stuff, but to be honest, I can make due with what i’ve got especially, now that I have my very own Silhouette Portrait. I don’t really need to buy any punches or die cuts again if I don’t want to because the portrait does all of that.

For this layout, I decided to play with gelatos again. These things are addicting! Also, for an economical, but attractive title, I cut my title using the Silhouette and colored it with a color pencil. I think it looks so neat. I felt like it needed a little more so I added the little star and smiley face. Perfect!

It's very rare that I create a layout without any journaling, but for this layout, the title speaks for itself, so I didn't think that journaling was needed.

How to: Before I started adhering stuff to my layout, I drew two circles and colored them in with gelatos. Then I cut them out and adhered them to navy cardstock. After this, I used my Silhouette portrait to cut the phrase “live for today” and colored the words with a light blue color pencil. Once this was done, I splashed some hot pink spray ink onto my layout and adhered the photo, title and embellishments to the center of the circles. I used an acrylic stamp and marker to stamp the scattered stars to the left of my title and I love the little smiley face by Freckled Fawn.

Happy Valentine's Day two...

So last week, Edward was suppose to have a Valentines Day party at school, but it never happened because of the snow. So they are having their party tomorrow and I had so much fun preparing for the party! I want Edward to remember the little things... like the one I remember of my grandmother taking me to kindergarten with cupcakes... sweet memories that I will never forget. And that's why I made his Valentine cards. The boys did not get a doilie...

And since I was responsible for making sandwiches for the kids, I decided to make it fun so I went to the store and bought a heart shape cookie cutter so that I could make heart sandwiches. Aren't they cute? I made a mixture of ham and cheese and turkey and cheese. I sure hope Edward has a fun time at his party tomorrow!
And here's a picture that I snapped last week. Daisy wanted to play in the snow... While Edward wanted to make a snow angel. Hehe.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day friends and family. I love you! :) This year I decided to create a meaningful card for my husband... It's been a little rocky lately and so one day, I went looking through all of our photos of us together... and dang, we did have a lot of great times together and then that thing called "stress" and "unemployment" hit us... and well, you can only imagine how hard this can be on a marriage.

Anyways, I decided to put most of our pictures over the past 14 years on a card for him... I hope he likes it because this took me a long time to make it... But I do love how it turned out.

What do you think?

Just in case you are wondering how I did this. The first thing I did was draw a heart on patterned paper. You can use cardstock if you wish. Then I cut the heart out using a pair of scissors.
Print lots of photos. This are about 1 1/2"x1 1/2". Some are smaller because I decided to crop them down a little bit.

Once I finished putting the photos on the heart, I scanned the heart and printed it on 5"x7" photo paper to strink it down a bit. Also, if you see little bits of patterned paper peaking through, simply cut little triangles out from each side to hide it.
Then adhere them to the heart, trimming the excess from the edges by flipping the heart over... Be very careful when doing this so you don't chop off a head or two :).

And there you have it... If you haven't already given your loved one a card yet, you still have a little bit of time before he or she gets home from work to make one of your own!

Playing with markers...

Happy Friday everyone! Today I have a fun layout to share with you. I still have not purchased any new supplies. I am doing so good with using up what I have on hand. It's actually not as hard as I thought it would be. YAY!

For this layout, I decided to use my markers, mist and stamps. I have so many of these on hand, but never really pull them out. But that changed today. What do you think about the background of this layout? I think it looks so neat. Basically, I started with the lightest color and worked my way up to the darkest. Simply take your marker and drag it across the right side of the page and loop it to the left until you reach the bottom. Then do the same for two other colors.

I also added a few splashes of hot pink mists and some little heart stamps and jewels to break up the background a bit. Ever since my term with scrapbooking from the inside out ended, I've stopped doing pages about "me". Not sure why... I don't have a problem with scrapping my thoughts and feelings down on paper, life has been pretty hectic lately, but I'm working on changing that because I need to take some time for myself this year...

Products used: Cardstock: Doodlebug Design Inc., Staples: Tim Holtz, Paper clips: Freckled Fawn (arrows), Jewels: Zva Creative, Tags: Elle’s Studio, Journaling spots: Elle’s Studio, Stickers: Freckled Fawn, Thickers: American Crafts, Ink: Stamps: American Crafts (Arrows, big heart, Freckled Fawn (“Right now, tiny hearts), Spray mist: Ranger, Markers: Faber-Castell, Pen: American Crafts, Adhesives: American Crafts.

Journaling says: This year I will be focusing on doing things that make me happy. I will make more of an effort to spend more time with my friends doing the things that I love. I will stop depriving myself of the things that I deserve. I deserve to be happy too. ENOUGH OF THIS!

It snowed!

The last thing Edward asked me last night before he fell asleep was "can we make a snowman tomorrow, mommy?" And I said yes... So I kept my word this morning when Edward started getting dressed and handed me my shoes... lol He was so HAPPY. I love it when he's happy because it makes me happy.

So we had some chocolate eyeballs from Halloween that Edward thought would make a great set of eyes for Mr. Snowman. We used a strawberry for his nose and some Whoppers for his mouth. I do have a cool, creative kid on my hands.

So... it's not a great looking snowman. I know this, but this made my son happy and that's what matters.

Even Daisy got to play a bit. She was chasing Edward all around the yard. Fun times.

Love this face... he's so handsome and I'm one lucky momma.

By the time we finished with Mr. Snowman, Edward decided to eat his face off... he ate the candy. LOL

I turned around and this is what I found. My little guy sat by the truck, quietly eating snow. :) Made me smile.

So did you get any snow? I'm so glad we got snow this year because Edward loves it.
