Life is good

Edward has been having a blast with his new scotter that he got from Santa. He is starting to get the hang of it. I worry that he will knock one of his teeth out before he gets it down... but so far, he has all of his teeth.

I decided to pull out my January Clique Kit for this layout. I am not tired of the pastels yet... it's something different. I rarely scrap with pastels, but this kit is so brilliant and I managed to scrap a few boy layouts with it! So don't think you can't scrap your boys with this kit because you can... I love these chipboard triangles from Creative Embellishments that came with the kit. They are awesome! I think I need some more. I also love the washi tape that came as an add-on! Celebrate today

Hi everyone. Hope all is well. I've been crazy busy lately. I haven't had much time to scrap these past few weeks, but here's a layout that I was able to squeeze in using lots of goodies from the Clique Kits store. I am love with Shimelle's collection. Really. It's such a great collection for documenting my life stories. This layout is full of layers and bright colors. It makes one fun layout wouldn't you say?

Top 10 Scrapbook layout for 2014

Hello everyone! Can you believe that 2015 is almost here? Where has the time gone? Today, I just wanted to share with you my top 10 "favorite" layouts of 2014! Just looking at these layouts makes me very happy! I love going back through the past years and looking at my older favorites. I can definitely see how my scrapbooking gets better and better each year that goes by. I've also made a huge effort to use more COLOR photos on my layouts. Last year, I think that more than 80% of my layouts included a black and white photo. And yes, while that's OK, nothing wrong with that, I think that color photos make the layouts look more real. I have to say, 2014 was a much better year than 2013. Things are getting better in the Martel household.

Yesterday, I didn't really feel like decorating. It's been a really hard week for me. We had to put Daisy down... but the little guy has asked me every day this week if we could put the tree up and I didn't have the heart to tell him no... so we did it together. And I have to say, it made me happy doing it.

I even was brave enough to put my beloved babies on the tree this year. I swallowed the lump down my throat and smiled knowing they were together now up in heaven.

Here's one of the Ninja turtle ornaments that Aunt Jamie and Edward made together.

Edward was so excited when he saw "yummy" his elf in the box... he said, "look, it's a smurf guy! We learned about him at school." Very cute.

This is the first time in ever that I decided to put up a fake tree. Mom wasn't using hers so I thought I'd give it a try. No, it's not the same as a real tree, but it's safer!

Do you want to build a snowman?

Hi everyone. Nicole here with another fun layout! Edward was so excited this year when we got so much snow on the East Coast. He didn't know what to do with himself. He totally cracked me up by making a snowman out of snow, a strawberry, candy eyes and a whopper! He is so clever. HAHA.

The "Enchanted Meadow" kit really works great with the snow pictures. I love the blue, pink, orange and lime together! So very pretty. Kudos Clique Kits for creating another fabulous kit that is so versatile.

I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out my little die cut star at the bottom and I free hand-cut my triangles at the top of the photo. Also, notice at the bottom how I used a tiny strip of patterned paper as my border? I didn't have any washi tape that went with the colors so I made my own little strip and it worked great. Also, I hand-cut some of the polka dots from the patterned paper and adhered them all around the layout to make them pop!

Misting die cuts

Happy Monday friends! I don't know about you, but I've been scrapping up a storm using my "Enchanted Meadow" kit by Clique Kits. I tell ya, these kits are getting prettier and prettier and I love them. I love when I am inspired to try new things to help push me to do something new. This month I decided to play with my mists. It's been awhile since I've pulled them out to play. Before I started creating this layout, I knew that I wanted fall leaves. So I cut two large leaves using my Silhouette Portrait. Then I placed the leaves on kraft cardstock and sprayed the leaves with my mists, leaving a naked spot on the kraft paper that I want to keep as part of the layout! I love how it looks. When spraying, be sure not to spray too close, otherwise it will look like puddles, rather than mists. I spray about 6 inches above the layout.

After I sprayed the die cuts, I removed them aside to let them dry a bit and wiped the excess mists off the paper using a paper towel. This helps keep the paper from wrinkling.

Once the die cuts and mist dried, I applied the leaves to my layout and embellished it with papers and a few pieces of the Color magic resist die cup pieces from the kit! These little die cuts are fantastic! I love them and can't get enough of them. I simply used a paint brush to brush the mist on the dies and set them aside to dry before applying them to my layout using glue. What do you think?

And here's my layout after everything was dried and applied! I love the way the mist looks on the kraft paper!

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking

Happy Sunday everyone! I was so excited to see my Paper Crafts And Scrapbooking issue at my door when I got home yesterday. Why? Because I'm in it! Sadly, this is the last issue for Paper Crafts And Scrapbooking. The company decided to close it's doors after the February issue. There are only a few paper magazines left! It really makes me sad, but I'm fortunate to be a part of the last issue! It's kind of bitter sweet and the editors included a little goodbye... so touching! I wish the editors the best in their future endeavors. They really rocked it out with the last issue. Closed it's doors with a bang! You can get your copy here!

Multiple sized photos

Hi everyone! I'm back again today with a quick and easy tutorial on how to print multiple sized photos for your layouts. Personally, I do not have a printing program to do this so I use Ipiccy. Ipiccy is a free photo software and I use it often to edit my photos. I also use this program to create a collage using my favorite photos so that I can cut the different sized photos out to use on my layout! This programs saves me a great deal of time, ink, money and photo paper! It's awesome.

Simply go to and click on create collage. Then upload your photos and move them around to your liking, print it and cut the photos out!

Before printing the photo, be sure to select "fit picture to frame" so that your photo collage does not get chopped off at the edges.

And here is my layout. I love the papers in the Enchanted Meadows kit by Clique Kits. I can't get enough of it. There's so many possibilities with all the patterned paper in this fabulous kit!

Documenting those memories...

Hi scrappers! This month is a hard month for me and my family. When people say, "time flies", it's true. I can't believe that it's been almost 10 years since my grand-father passed away from Prostate cancer. It seems like my heart is finally healing a little bit more over the years. A few years ago, I started documenting things on a word document that I didn't want to forget. As I was typing, I found myself writing things from the past and merging memories from the present. Once I was finished, I saved the document and never looked at it again until just recently. And the only reason why I looked at it was because of Poppy's anniversary coming up on December the 9th.

Since my grand-father loved his "flairs" (flowers), I decided to use the beautiful patterned paper from Heidi Swapp's September Skies collection. Wow, I seriously could look at this collection all day. So far this year, the "Enchanted Meadow" kit is my favorite by Clique Kits! It is simply beautiful! Once I adhered the little die cut cards and photo to the layout, I added the gorgeous die cuts at the bottom. I stamped "Shine" and a little diamond below the cluster of embellishments to pull the layout together. I love this layout! Simple, but yet striking, leaving the main focus on the journaling.

I often wondered how designers were able to get their journaling lined up on the page the way they do... And I have discovered an easy way to solve the problem. Simply print out your journaling on white cardstock and scrap "around" the journaling. Problem solved.

And here's a little close up. I love my little cluster of embellishments here. Normally, I fuss about where to place my embellishments, but this layout practically scrapped itself. :)

Thanks for stopping by today and reading my story. I hope I've inspired you to document your beautiful memories soon! If you need anything from the Clique Kits store, use NICOLE10 to save 10% on your purchase.
