Capturing Life Today

Hi everyone. I have a fun layout to share with you using the September Clique Kit, Moon Child! I've been playing with my stamps and spray mists. I saw this sketch on Creative Scrapper's blog, I immediately wanted to give it a try. Especially since I had a 4x6 photo that I wanted to scrap, but didn't know what design I wanted to use. Sometimes, it can be tricky scrapping a 4x6 photo onto an 8 1/2"x11" layout.

I used the arrow stamps by Precious Remembrance Shop to create a fun background for my layout. Isn't it fun. I love Teal! It's my favorite color. Also, I had a few scraps left over from the exclusive paper from this month's kit and decided to use them. Sometimes, when I love a certain paper, I have a hard time throwing away the scraps. So... I hoard them. Hey, there's no shame in that. Right?!

For fun, I added the big tag in the background that I had from my stash. And I used the polka dot paper that I had from my stash since Cooper is a Dalmatian with very few spots, I decided to add a few spots to the layout. I hand-cut the star and sentimental journaling from patterned paper.

August Clique Kits Blog Share

Hi everybody. It’s Nicole here, wishing you a fabulous Wednesday! Welcome to the August Pep Rally. This month, we hope to inspire you with the "Rio" kit. This month, we decided to combine some goodies from Fancy Pants Designs, Cocoa Vanilla and Pretty Little Studio to give you a wide variety. We also included several bright and colorful cards and some exclusive flair to complement the kit. This kit has so many possibilities.
For our challenge this month, we went with anything goes.
The Pep Rally, for those of you who are new to the Clique, is our monthly subscriber and design team blog share typically held the third week of the month and participants earn product credits-yes, free stuff to do what you love-who can beat that? It's out with the old, in with the new time at Clique Kits when we (hopefully) have all killed our kit from the previous month and have lots to show off, and we start to chat and hype the excitement for the coming month’s kit. In other words, we party! We don’t leave out our guests-there is always a prize for a hopper who comments on each post and likes and shares on social media! Just leave a new comment for each like and share for a separate entry in the random drawing for this month’s prize. One lucky person will win this month’s Rio kit! Get the word out and have your friends join our Pep Rally because they might end up with this gorgeous kit at their doorsteps!

This month, I decided to add some hand doodling and paint with lots of embellishments to complete my layout. I love all the "mothers" sentiments on the die cuts and felt that scrapping about my mother was perfect for this kit.

Hi everybody! This week, Jillibean Soup and Just Nick Studio are partnering up to bring you lots of inspiring layouts to get your mojo flowing. I wanted to create a mixed media layout so I could paint on my transparency words! Can I just say one thing, I love these things. They are so fun and they look great on just about any project. Amazingly, they do not take that long to dry.

I sprayed the background with three different Coloringz by Shimmerz Paints in the shades of No Yokino, Heidi Ho Blue and Don't Citron Me. I took the colors right from the photo. The heart digital die-cuts are from Just Nick Studio's shop (Remember). Initially, I was only going to include a photo with very few embellishments, however, I found that once I started applying embellishments and papers, I couldn't stop. I just LOVE how this turned out. It's such a happy layout. I let the transparency word die-cut and sticker letters tell the story. Notice how I balanced the top and bottom of the layout by adding a few hearts and butterflies? I think it really makes a difference. Otherwise, the layout would have looked like it was unbalanced.

1st day of 1st grade

Wow. Seriously, I cannot believe I have a 1st grader! I scheduled my flex day for today so I could take him to school on his first day and pick him up right after school. This morning, I took a few photos before we left, but they had too much light on his face from the sun glaring down on him. He was quiet on the way to school this morning. I asked if he was nervous and he shook his head; he wasn't fooling me. I just told him he has nothing to be nervous about because he already knew half his classmates from last year! I walked him into the school and walked out with no tears! ha.

When I arrived to school to pick him up, he was upset because he wanted daddy to pick him up. He pitched a fit. This is unlike him so when he does things like that, I know something's wrong. I gently explained to him that daddy was at work and I told him this morning I was picking him up. He stalked some more.

I stayed quiet, hoping he'd tell me what happened and then he quietly told me that a someone had hit him in the nose during gym class. I asked if it was a boy or girl and his response was, "A boy. It's a good thing it was a boy because girls are more powerful and if a girl had hit me, it would have hurt." I had to smile. He is so cute. He said the boy hit him and told Edward that he wasn't his friend. I asked what he did, he said nothing because he was at school. He said if he hadn't been at school, he would have punched the kid in his face. Not nice... but he had sense enough not to do it. I told him to tell the teacher next time because I didn't want the kid to think it was okay hitting on Edward... I tried to explain to Edward what a bully was, but I don't think he understood me.

Overall, it was a successful day and he was smiling after a bit. He likes his teacher Mrs. Neich and I hope it continues! Here are much better photos that I took AFTER school. Once we talked about his day.

Have a wonderful day!

Hello awesome

Hello everyone. Nicole Martel here with a fun boy layout using Jillibean Soup's "Healthy Hello Soup" collection. At first glance, I immediately thought of coffee/food layouts, but the more I looked at this collection, I thought it would work well with a few photos that I took of my son a few weeks ago. I totally love the yellow, aqua and blues in this collection. It's such a pretty combination.

You make me happy when skies are grey

Hello everybody. Did you order the "Here Comes the Sun" collection by Pretty Little Studios? O.M.G. I love this beautiful collection. The colors are so perfect. It's nice to scrapbook with some softer tones. I am normally not a pink person, but this collection was an exception. haha. Just recently, my sister posted her engagement photos online and I snagged them. I just love how the photos look against the pretty papers. What do you think? I especially love the clouds, mini word stickers and vellum tape.

Sorry everyone! If you're sick of seeing my cats already, I understand. LOL, however, they are too cute not to scrap. Toby is my favorite... even though he has scratched me good a few times. Not cool. Those claws are like raiser blades. No kidding.

The other morning, I decided to play with my paints. Edward was in his room watching Mine Craft videos so it was the perfect time to get messy! I don't pull out my paint enough... it just takes so much time to dry and clean up. This was such a fun layout to make. I used Jillibean Soup's "Healthy Hello Soup" collection for this layout. I kept it clean and simple since I added paint and the doodled heart.

Meet Jess

I scrapped another layout using Elle's Studio's Summer collection. Only, I didn't scrap a summer layout, I scrapped a kitty layout. I love this photo of Edward with Jessica. It was love at first sight for these two so I wanted to scrap this memory. This was their first night together. Melts my heart. She is still warming up to us, but it's a slow process.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Die-Cuts: Puffy Stickers:  Elle's Studio, Epoxy stickers: Rub-ons: Fancy Pants Designs, Enamel Dots: Coco Vanilla Studio, Veneer: Jillibean Soup, Mini sticker alphas: Simple Stories, Sticker alphas: Pinkfresh Studio, Stamp: Ali Edwards Design, Mini stapler: Tim Holtz, Pen: Signo-Uniball.

Welcome Toby and Jessica!

Happy Friday! So exactly, one week ago, I gave Pete the go-ahead to take Edward to the Anne Arundel County Animal Shelter so he can pick out a kitty. Edward has been asking for a kitty for over a year now and it's gotten so bad that he has been collecting "stuffed" kitties. I just couldn't take it anymore. I felt terrible...

I mean, what's one more to add along with our 4 Betas and Potbelly pig? Right? Right! So last Friday, my husband texted me and asked me to stop by the pet store to buy some cat food and litter. Once I was there, I wanted to buy cute little bowls and wondered if Edward got a male or female. The boys weren't home when I got home.

Just me

Hello everyone. Nicole here with a fun layout. I am not sure if you've noticed, but I LOVE patterned paper. I love how you can get a semi-funky look by mixing different papers together. Sometimes, I don't want my layout to look like everything coordinates perfectly. I like to mix it up a bit.

For this layout, I used a mixture of Fancy Pants Designs, Cocoa Vanilla and Clique Kit's exclusive journaling cards! I love the sentiment of the journaling card from the July "Raskog" kit and decided to use it for this layout. The others journaling cards came with the Rio kit!

girl..._fancy pants designs_clique kits_layout_Cocoa Vanilla Studio

I used a few of the add-ons on this layout. I love the washi tape and enamel dots. I simply cannot get enough of them. I tied a piece of ribbon from my stash onto the clip and stapled the string from my tag onto the layout to prevent the string from moving around. For the photo, I used a photo editing program to create a collage of photos and then printed it out so I'd have a nice square sized photo for my project. I painted the veneer with the Don't Citron Me Coloringz from Shimmerz Paints. We have some Shimmerz Paints in the store! Click here to check out the add-ons and mixed media products we have in the store.
