Hello, friends! I decided to play around and make something fun for summer. I love the summer sign stencils from The Crafter's Workshop and they are perfect to use for garden flags!
Next, I taped down the stencil and started blending the yellow and blue inks through the Beach Vibe sign stencil. I did this slowly, to prevent the stencil from slipping since the designs on the stencil is intricate.
I flipped the My Sunshine stencil backwards to create a mirrored text for the sentiment at the bottom.
After I finished blending the blue and pink ink through the sentiment, I saw I had some blotchy areas from the ink, but I was able to fix it with a little heat tape. If you cover your mistakes with heat tape, it will not transfer to the blank.
I set the heat press timer for 55 seconds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit to get it going.
Next, I stamped a few little birdies at the top using the black sublimation ink and stamp from Studio Forty.
I used the yellow marker to color in the sun because I was worried the outline would not show through once it goes through the heat press.
Then, I taped down the image onto the garden flag using heat tape, making sure I used enough heat tape to prevent the image from moving.
Finally, I placed protective paper at the top and bottom of the word flag and placed it in the heat press for 55 seconds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Before I removed the protective paper, I took a peek test to ensure the image transferred properly and the colors are vibrant!
What do you think? I like how this one turned out better than the spring flag.
