Mixed Media Bookmarks

Hi everyone. Just popping on to share these mixed media bookmarks I created using the TCW2209 Beautiful Sentiments Stamp and TCW2203 Missing You Stamp set from The Crafter's Workshop.

To begin, I used my Sizzix and metal bookmark dies from Trinity Stamps to make the bookmarks.

Next, I used my gel plate and acrylic paints to alter the bookmarks. A little paint goes a long way... I love how these backgrounds turned out.

Once I was satisfied with the backgrounds, I chose my favorite backgrounds and stamped the images onto the bookmarks using black ink.

To complete the card, I colored in some of the images using alcohol markers and added ribbon at at the top of the bookmarks.

And here they are!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY CARD

Good morning friends! I'm so excited to share my very first DT project I created for Ink Road with you. Since Mother's Day is next month, I thought I'd get a jump start and make a beautiful card for my mother!

To begin,  I added a drop or two of Chalk Acrylic Paint from Paper Artsy onto my gel plate from Gel Press and then smooth over the paint using a brayer. I then placed my 3x4 card over the plate to pick up the paint. I repeated this process with a few different colors such as pink, purple and green.

Next, I used my Sizzix to punch out the floral die using the Basics Flower 2 Stamp and Die Set.

I used a scrap piece of white cardstock to color two strips of purple and green to use for my Basic Ssentiment Strips.

Next, I stamped the "Happy Mother's Day" and "I love you" sentiment strips from the Basics Sentiment Strips Stamp Set onto the scrap of paper with the ink and then cut them out using scissors.

To complete the card, I mounted everything down using glue and foam squares. Isn't this so pretty? I love the chalk paint! It adds such a nice touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

LAUGHTER MIXED MEDIA LAYOUT

Hello! This year, I'm going to make it a colorful year. I love playing with paint. Therefore, I am going to try using my Gel Plate by Gel Press more often. It's so cool and after you get the hang of it, you can really create some wonderful backgrounds for your projects.

Disclaimer: "The Crafter's Workshop Provided me with Product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own."

To create this layout, I used a gel plate to add lots of bold colors for the background. And then I used the TCW361 Tiny Circles stencil and Platinum Modeling paste to add several metallic dots in the background. I just love how the paint looks!! It's so cool.

To see the full tutorial on how this came together, please visit TCW's Blog!

I've had the big "Laughter" die cut from Pretty Little Studio in my stash for some time... I really love the font and how it looks against all the colors.

I added a few stickers, chipboard and gems at the bottom to help pull it all together. I love embellishments!

Thank you so much for visiting!

PLAY HARD MIXED MEDIA LAYOUT

Hello stencil lovers. I have a new addiction! I've been playing with my gel plate from Gel Press, getting messy and having so much fun. Seriously, this was such a fun spread and it was very therapeutic for me. I created this little by little for a few nights in a row. I'd add something and come back. I am going to try this the next time my mojo isn't quite there... sometimes, it really helps to just sleep on it.

Disclaimer: "The Crafter's Workshop provided me with product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own."

To begin, I dropped a small amount of acrylic paint onto the gel plate and then used a brayer to smooth out the paint. Then, I placed the journal page face down on the plate and smooth over the page using a brayer. I repeated this process several times with different color paints until I was happy with the result. While I was applying paint to the page, I'd rub off the excess behind the page... I thought it would be a good idea... create two projects at the same time using the same technique. Come back on January 5th to see the other layout I created!

Once I was done with the background, I grabbed some Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste and the TCW809 Ocean Window 12X12 stencil to create a fun design. I really like how the Light and Fluffy looks against the pretty colors! I used a palette knife to pull the Light and Fluffy through the stencil.

After it was completely dry, I used the Gel Medium to glue down the patterned papers and embellishments. I like using the gel, rather than a tape runner because the gel really holds everything in place.

Here are some close-ups. I'm so pleased with how this turned out and the colors!! It's so happy... After I was finished gluing down everything, I rubbed black ink along the edges to give it more of a distressed look.

I really like how the background turned out with the use of the gel plate. You cannot get this look just painting directly onto the cardstock. And this technique is super easy to do. Anyone can do it... you just have to jump in and START. :)

Thank you so much for visiting today!

MIXED MEDIA ART JOURNAL PAGES

Hi all! Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sharing a variety of mixed media pages I created in my art journal. For these pages, I used a variety of paint, ink, and lots of 6x6 stencils from The Crafter's Workshop. All of these pieces are so different...love that. To create the backgrounds, I used a gel plate! Still getting the hang of gel plating, but it's soooo cool!!

If you're interested in seeing how some of these pages came together, click here to see a tutorial on the Clique International blog.

For this page, I used the gel plate and pulled the green, pink and purple colors onto the journaling page. Then I used the Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste from The Crafter's Workshop over the 6x6 stencil to create the patterns. Once the paste was completely dry, I used a gel medium to glue down the embellishments. Super simple and fun to make!

I used the Limited Kit, Bliss to create these fun mixed media pages. That lace trim is sooooo beautiful I didn't want to cut it... We still have a few acrylic paints from the Bliss Limited Edition as well.

These are the stencils I used on these journal pages in case you wanted to know.
