SMILE/A CHERRY ON TOP

Hello, friends! It's Nicole Martel here with a bright and colorful vacation layout I created using Simple Stories' Color Me Happy collection. I just love this collection. It's super fun and it's perfect for documenting these girl's weekend celebrating my sister's 30th birthday in Mexico.

I love clustering stickers and embellishments together to create dimension. I use foam squares/strips to pop up some of the embellishments. They look so pretty layered together.
All of those bright and colorful embellishments look like the perfect eye candy! Super fun. There's so much to look at...from the decorative brads to the flowers and stickers...This cluster of embellishments makes me happy.

I used the cut-apart card to create a fun journaling block and then added all the stickers and die cuts. Next, I added some journaling. So fun!

Thank you so much for visiting today! If you like this layout, check out the mini album I created for my sister, here! I can't wait to give both projects to her.

INTERACTIVE FRIENDSHIP PAGES/A CHERRY ON TOP

Good morning, friends! I'm excited to share the rest of my friendship album I created using the Curiosities in Willow Grove collection by 49 & Market. I just love this album! There's so many wonderful pocket pages, tags, interactive pages and 6x8 spreads that are filled with layers of embellishments. This makes my heart happy.

I love that the albums come with interactive pages and pockets! There's so much you can do with these. I used rub-ons, die cut frames and flowers to add layers to the pages. It's a great way to make it your own.

I decorated the white pocket inserts using patterned paper, rub-ons and die cuts. Aren't they lovely?! Those flowers with the black background really pop!

The album also comes with a fun 4x6 interactive flip page. I decorated the pages using patterned paper and journaling cards. Next, I added lots of beautiful embellishments in clusters.

There are so many beautiful details throughout this album. I really love how beautiful the laser cuts look...and the rub-ons are a must! I should have gotten two sheets of the rub-ons because they were my favorite. Notice how I added the rub-ons to the pages?!

And that's a wrap of my friendship album! What do you think? Does this album bring a whole new opinion of this collection! The layers of embellishments are so beautiful! 10 POCKET PAGE TIPS TO INSPIRE/A CHERRY ON TOP

Good morning, friends! Last month, I went to a weekend crop with my friends and I finally made the friendship album I have been wanting to make...I've been so busy working on design team projects that it was on the back burner. However, I scrapped for myself all weekend and it felt great! I'm sad though...because this is one of those projects I wish I had filmed! It was so much fun to make! For these pocket pages, I am using 49 & Market's Curiosities in Willow Grovecollection. I'm also using the 6x8 Album to store these gorgeous pages. It's such a beautiful collection with the gold foiling and transparency die cuts. I JUST LOVE IT ALL.

Here are 10 pocket page tricks to apply on your next pocket page album to make them shine!
  1. Use foiled embellishments to add shimmer to your pocket page spread.
  2. Apply rub-ons to photos and journaling cards, and layer them with die cuts for dimension.
  3. Cut transparency die cuts in half to use on a different pocket page spread.
  4. Use metal dies to create interactive pockets with hidden tags.
  5. Mount die cuts to the page using foam squares to add dimension.
  6. Apply tag to 3x4 journaling card and embellish with rub-ons, die cuts and other desired embellishments.
  7. Try sticking with a color scheme across the pockets to keep a cohesive appearance.
  8. Use a Cannon Selphy to print 3x4 photos.
  9. Cut floral die cuts in half and use part of the flower as a border at the bottom of the journaling card with a label.
  10. Have fun, and enjoy the process!

The layers across these pocket pages make my heart happy. I just love all the beautiful embellishments.
My favorite embellishments from the Curiosities in Willow Grove collection are the rub-ons, and foiled embellishments! I couldn't get enough of them. They add so much to the pocket pages and they are so pretty.

As you can see, I used a variety of rub-ons on the photos and journaling cards. Also, I cut a few of the transparency die cuts to use only half of the circle so I could use them on other pages throughout the album. I added a die cut frame to the tag and added the greenery and butterfly along with the sentiment for one of the pockets. Aren't these pocket pages gorgeous?!
I added some patterned paper to the pocket that comes with the album. Next, I added a variety of rub-ons and die cuts. I folded one of the notebook pages in half and glued both sides together to create a fun insert page for the album. Then, I added the transparent die cut and a few rub-ons to fill int he white space.

I hope you found these pages inspiring! I had so much fun working on this album. Check back on the blog on April 16th as I'll be sharing 6x8 pages from this album! I have a variety of pocket pages and 6x8 scrapbook pages to inspire.

Thank you for visiting today!

SAY CHEESE CLASSIC POOH BABY ALBUM PAGES/A CHERRY ON TOP

Good morning, friends. Nicole here, sharing a baby album I have been working on for my son who is almost 16 years old! Simple Stories' Say Cheese Classic Pooh collection is absolutely adorable and I just had to use it to document Edward's baby stories.

Most of the time, I'll have a separate page where I journal on the notebook paper that comes in the SNAP Binders, but that always looks too boring compared to all the beautiful pages that are embellished. I decided to do something different by adding the photo directly on the notebook paper and then add my journaling around the photo. Next, I added a few embellishments at the top of the page to fill in the white space.

Throughout the album, you'll notice I have a decorative page. This is a fun way to play with words that goes with your stories!
One thing I made sure of was to document the days of waiting for his arrival...I was terrified he would come early...We had a blizzard just a week prior to the day he was born! There was 3 feet of snow on the ground. No one was getting in or out of my neighborhood. I'm so thankful he decided to stay put for another week... He literally stayed in there full term. LOL...He did not want to come out.

I love this photo and I'm so thankful my mother was with me in the recovery room to take it. This was my favorite moment with Edward after 24 hours of labor... me holding him and really looking at his beautiful face. He just stared at me... So precious. I love that he will have this album to look back on when he is older. Something I wish I had as an adult.

I used a variety of 4x6 cards, tags and sentimental die cuts to document these precious moments. Seriously, when I look at these photos, I wonder to myself, where has the time gone? Edward will be 16 years old next month. Cry-Cry.

I absolutely love the 6x8 Binder Inserts that come with this collection!! They are super fun and oh so pretty! And I especially love all the adorable Pooh elements. It's so darn cute!

I had so much fun making this album and these are only half of the pages of the album. To see more, check out my YouTube channel on January 12th! I'll have a video going live on how this came together and a full flip through of the album. I hope I inspired you to document your babies! Thank you so much for visiting today.

LOVE, HOPE, DREAMS ART JOURNAL SPREAD/A CHERRY ON TOP

Hello, friends. Happy Friday! Nicole here with a fun, whimsical art journal spread. I really need to play in my art journal more often because it makes me so happy...my mood instantly changes when I play with pretty stamps, stencils, and lots of color.
Before I begin, I always decide on a color theme...I chose to work with orange, reds, and greens for the base. The patterned paper pads make the process so much easier! I simple colored the pages using acrylic markers and then tore the paper and glued them to the pages.

Sometimes, I fussy cut images from the paper to glue down as well to tie both sides of the journal spread together.
I glued a variety of cute die cut elements at the bottom to create a fun, whimsical cluster of elements across the bottom of the page. Next, I glued the glitter drops down to add some shimmer.
This page has a nice collage feel to it. I just glued down everything that I wanted, randomly all over the place. It's not organized by any means, but it's totally fun!
One of my favorite things about playing in my journal is that it is very freeing to not think or worry about anything at all...just add color and glue down the things that make you smile...it's that simple. JUST HAVE FUN.

I hope you found this spread fun, and delightful to look at! I enjoyed playing, and I encourage you to try something different if you haven't given art journaling a try, yet. Start out small and work your way up to the larger size. I'm still working with a 4x4 size and it works for me. Click here, to see the full tutorial! Thanks for watching.

MERRY CHRISTMAS LAYOUT/A CHERRY ON TOP

Good morning, friends. Happy holidays! Today, I'm sharing ways in which you can get the most from your patterned papers. With the help of a bit of fussy cutting...you can create beautiful layers to bring your projects to life. I love playing with layers and fussy cutting little treasures to make my layouts beautiful.
To begin, I layered the floral and plaid patterned papers from the Very Merry Christmas collection from Pinkfresh Studio. I cut the floral print to measure 8 1/2"x11". Next, I cut the plaid print to measure 7 1/2"x10" and mounted it to the floral print so that there is a nice floral border around the layout.
After that, I used my scissors to cut the poinsettia, holly and candy cane from the patterned paper so that I can use them to create beautiful layers on my project. Then, I cut the holly strip from the patterned paper to use as a fun border.
I ended up not using the cut out holly on the tag so that I could fill in the space on the tag with the photo. However, I did fussy cut the presents from patterned paper and popped them at the bottom of the tag with foam squares to frame the tag. I placed the holly border below the tags and added some white pom-pom ribbon to add texture. There is so much to look at on this layout! I just love how festive it looks.
I added ribbon and string to the tags to make them pretty and then filled in the white space at the top using the die cuts.
You can hardly tell that I mixed two different holiday collections together to create this gorgeous festive layout. I used Pinkfresh Studio's Very Merry Christmas patterned papers along with Simple Stories' Hard Candy Christmas papers, Chipboard, Stickers, and die cuts.
I placed the "MERRY CHRISTMAS" chipboard title at the bottom and fussy cut the candy wrapper, presents, and tree from patterned paper to enhance the title.
I hope you found this layout inspiring, and maybe from this point moving forward, you will look at your patterned papers differently! Don't be afraid to cut up your patterns to make them work for you! Thank you so much for visiting today.
