For this layout, I decided to create a playful monochromatic layout using the new So Appreciative Stamp Set, Marshmallow Alphabet Die Set, and the Slimline Lots of Dots 6x9 stencil.

To begin, I used the Blending Buddy Brush and stencil to create a fun background filled with polka dots in different shades of green. I used Catherine Pooler's inks in the shades of Daydream, Mardi Gras and Mint To Be. The color combination is absolutely beautiful!

I used the lighter shades first and worked my way up to the darker green. This was a slow process because I wanted to make sure the stencil did not move while blending and I wanted different shades throughout the entire layout.

Then I blended the Daydream ink on another piece of white cardstock and stamped several stars and hearts all over the paper.

Here is a closer look at the stars and hearts. Once I was satisfied with the image, I used the Marshmallow Alphabet Die and my Sizzix to punch out the alphas to use for my title.

I used the border of stars stamp from the So Appreciative Stamp Set. Love the tiny elements in this stamp set! I added the Glass Beach mixed style rhinestones along each side of the layout to make it pop.

I used a foam square to pop the center of the star die. This is part of the Marshmallow Alphabet Die Set.

I splashed some Raven Coloration Spray from Art Anthology to break up the green. Love the font of the alphabet die set. It's such a fun set. I am sure I will be using it a great deal. :)

HELLO GORGEOUS

Good morning! Today I am sharing a friendship layout I created using Pebbles Inc.'s Hey, Hello! Collection. I love these photo booth pictures that we took back in November at our annual employee dinner. This is always the highlight of our night...the photo booth. LOL

To begin, I cut down the printed paper to measure 10"x7 1/2" and the floral print to measure 8 1/2"x11". Then I matted the smaller rectangle to the center of the floral paper. I used a pen to draw a 1/2 border around the layout. 

I used a silicone brush to paint the background using Art Anthology's Mustard Velvet Dimensional Paint. Once the paint was completely dry, I added the photo strips and embellishments. This was super fun to make. I just love it! It makes me smile. We are all a bunch of goofballs.

I used a few foam squares to make the embellishments pop off the page. I used them on the stickers too!

These were fun times for sure! I hope I inspired you to grab your paint for your next project. You see... it doesn't need to be complicated! Just smear the paint onto the patterned paper and then add your embellishments. The paint will completely change the look of your layout for the better! I think...

TODAY IS THE DAY

Good morning! This month, I am guest designing over at A Cherry On Top! I've been creating lots of things for their blog and it's been a lot of fun. I am excited to finally get to play with this beautiful collection by Simple Stories! As soon as this collection came out, it caught my eye! There were other collections that caught my eye in the shop, but my eyes always came back to this beautiful vintage collection. It's been awhile since I played with a vintage collection and this layout... is the most creative I've been in awhile...  Scrapping this layout and a few others was enjoyable for me.

The Simple Stories' Simple Vintage Garden District collection is filled with beautiful flowers, birds and butterflies. All of the elements in this collection works so well together. It really is beautiful.

To begin, I cut the Turquoise/Ivory Basic Paper to measure 8 1/2x11. Then I cut the Never Stop Dreaming Paper to measure 7 1/2x10. I matted the Never Stop Dreaming Paper to the center of the Turquoise/Ivory Basic Paper. When I cut the floral paper, I was very careful where I cut because I wanted to keep the flowers and trim the white space from the patterned.

I was undecided as to whether or not I wanted to go with the color photo or the black and white. In the end, I settled with the black and white for this layout.

Since I wanted to add a few more butterflies, I used Catherine Pooler's Twilight ink to stamp the butterflies from the clear stamp set that came with this collection. The color matches the gray on the paper perfectly!

I made a mistake when I stamped this stamp onto the paper...it smeared and some of the letters did not ink properly. To fix this, I stamped the image on a scrap piece of patterned paper and cut the image out using scissors. Then I glued it over top of the initial stamped image. You can barely tell!

Before I stamped the butterflies all over the paper, I tested the ink on a scrap piece of paper to make sure the color would look ok. It was perfect. It is almost the same shade as the gray flowers.

I cut these flowers out to use on the layout. Then I framed the photo using the flowers on the right-side of the photo.

I arranged a variety of flowers and leaves onto the layout. Once I was satisfied with the placement, I adhered them down and mounted the matted photo onto the layout.

I tucked a few more flowers here and there and glued the butterflies down. I moved a few additional embellishments here and there until I felt it was complete! I LOVE playing with embellishments. I used a few foam squares to pop up the butterflies from the page to add dimension.

Here are some close-ups of the layout after it was complete. I added a strip of washi at the top and bottom part of the layout to kind of pull the layout together.

Lots of butterflies... I had a hard time knowing how much was too much with the butterflies... I wanted to make sure the butterflies balanced each other out. And that the butterflies weren't too top heavy...

The brads in this collection are beautiful. I managed to add a few on this layout without it looking like it's too much.
